wow….did you come from the most condescending school of thought?

being a diehard new york rangers fan im familiar with curses and whatnot……just because u finally win one doesnt mean you stop being a fan, and i certainly wasnt implying that, but it does mean that 1994 is the most important sports year of my life and does mean to me that mark messier, adam graves etc are forever etched into the lore of new york heroes.

yaz is our version of rod gilbert or jean ratelle…great players who never played for a cup winning team…fans loved them, but unfortunately they will never be able to reach the messier/richter/graves/leetch category. Is it fair? probably not, but thats the way it is.

Yes. And I hope that by the time his contract with the Sox plays out (and may he finish his career here, PUHLEASE Theo and God) his number will also be hanging on the right field upper deck. But it’s a long way to Tipperary.

Trust a Yankees fan to think it’s *all* about championships. ;)

Here’s something stupid. I got an email from Boston Globe editorial the other day asking for the best “bar stool arguments” that staffers had ever had (I’m a lowly serf doing research). One of their examples was “Favorite all-time Sox: Papi or Yaz?” Ye fools!!! Even the marvelous Ortiz has a long, long way to go before he approaches Yaz status. That’s like comparing Paul Pierce to Larry Bird. Anyways, just thought I’d share.

nick, not to mention clearly cobb or rickey wasnt the answer because coley didnt acknowledge either one of them when we posted them as answers so i knew it wasnt cobb or rickey as the 3rd guy…so i just took a basic guess between yaz or musial…i was quite confident it was one or the other so i just took a guess and since musial was JUST an answer recently i went with yaz

ok no…considering 5 hours earlier i had yaz as a possible answer…that seems a little odd that after narrowing it down to 3 that i would then go ruin my integrity and go cheat to get the answer
