If you haven’t seen the video of this Fenway fan tossing a slice of pizza at the guy who got in the way of Garrett Anderson trying to catch a foul ball, here it is.

The pizza throwing fan was ejected, but honestly, who among us hasn’t wanted to throw something at a Red Sox fan at least once in our lives? I think this guy was lucky he got hit with pizza and not a Dodger Dog. Those things can take your eye out.

The Boston Herald actually did some reporting on this one, and got to the bottom of just want inspired the pizza-throwing fan to let heave. Long story short: he was drunk. And on Patriots Day! How tacky.

No, they were both Sox fans. You can tell the pizza thrower is a Sox fan b/c he’s wearing a Pats jersey. And news articles identify the victim as a Sox fan.

Also, the pizza was clearly thrown just after the ball was dropped. It didn’t prevent an out. On the other hand, J.D. Drew hit the ball, so I’m sure neither of the Sox fans in question would have minded if the pizza did prevent an out.

Personally, speaking for Sox fans everywhere, I think the dude chucked the pizza because Anderson had clearly just gratuitously clotheslined two dudes, causing irreperable damage to their beers. Hey man, we got beverages here.
