Update. Buchholz ended up striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs (three earned) in six full innings of work.

Plus this from boston.com:

August 17, 2007

Cash flying in; Kielty up tomorrow

By Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff

Breaking news here, folks.

Catcher Kevin Cash is currently being flown from Ottawa (where the PawSox play tonight) to Boston. Cash has experience over four major league seasons, three with the Blue Jays, one with the Devil Rays. He has 114 games and 472 major league at bats. That would mean Cash -- if he gets to Boston in time -- could start the second game of the doubleheader, with Jason Varitek having had to fill in today after Doug Mirabelli left with a calf injury. The 29-year-old Cash is not on the 40-man roster at this moment.

Perhaps that could mean another police escort from Logan...

Also, outfielder Bobby Kielty will be joining the Red Sox for tomorrow's game.

Like I (and Rick Reilly of SI) have been saying all along - he should have thrown the ball back. The fame and goodwill that that simple act would have bought him would far outweigh money from the sale of the ball.

He would have been immortalized. Everytime a clip of the record-breaking homer gets played, they would show Matt Murphy heaving it back as a sign of just how little fans during the steroid era thought of Barry. Would have been classic.

But instead of throwing the ball back, and appearing on Letterman, Matt Murphy is gonna be stuck with a huge tax bill. And if he's not careful, he may develop some bad financial habits from having a windfall at the impressionable age of 21. It's too bad. Matt Murphy had an opportunity to show the world that he's bigger than Barry. But he took the money and ran.
