Yeah, leave it. Not that my opinion counts as we've previously learned from Andy Brown, I'm clueless.

See, Melissa, this is a tricky situation, because this Andy Brown is clearly an ass. So I am faced with a tough choice. As an UmpBump admin, do I unapprove his sexist, pointless, sadly misinformed ranting? Or do I leave it here so that all the blogosphere can behold his inanity, baseball ignorance, and general douchebaggery? Well, now that I've put it that way, I think I'm pretty much duty-bound to leave it.

Yeah, the STEROID INVESTIGATION is going to cause Miggy's numbers to slip. LOL Get a clue. I see this site is inundated with clueless, female Flub fans.

Good riddance and good luck in your 100th year of absolute futility. Here's to 101.

Respond if you must, I won't be returning.

A., What good does your bullpen do you when you have an abysmal starting rotation? Only an Astros fan would think they are going to have the best lineup in the NL. They won't even have the best offense in their division. Milwaukee and Chicago both will have better lineups. I don't know if you heard but your prize acquisition, Tejada, has been involved in a little steroid investigation. Expect his power numbers to continue to drop off and he is major defensive down grade from Everett. Don't expect Kaz Matsui to have the same offensive numbers he had in Colorado either. As a Cubs fan I was thrilled to see what Houston did in the offseason. I can't believe an Astros fan would be too happy about the moves they made this offseason.

A. Brown, I fear you have been kidnapped and brainwashed by Drayton McClane. The best lineup in the league!? It's not even the best lineup in the division!

Are you a Cubs fan? I just came here from MLBTR (probably for the last time) and I've got to say, your assessment of the Astros, while is some ways spot-on, is littered with bias. LMAO@"...their offense should be OKAY." They might have the best lineup in the NL.

Wade is not who I wanted for the job, but he has impressed me with the few resources he had. It's easy for you to say that he "gave away nearly every prospect left" but what do you know about the guys he gave up? Patton (surprise, surprise) just announced season ending surgery. Fluke Scott is just that, a fluke. Sarfate is a power arm with some upside and Albers is on-off serviceable long reliever. Yup, ALL that for Tejada.

Wade has done wonders for our bullpen, Brocail is very solid. Villareal and Geary are at least serviceable. Valverde was a STUD last year, yeah, he might be "OKAY again" as you put it.

Things have been rough for us since the WS but this really just looks like a bunch of blind, Astros bashing. Typical fare for blogs.

Zvee, I agree with you, I don't think the Astros are going to be truly terrible. They are not going to lose 100 games or anything like that. As you say, their lineup is pretty decent. But I can't give them much credit for doing anything right this offseason, and I do think their organization is headed in a really wrong direction.

Well, Sarah, I guess I reserve the "F" for a team which has truly done nothing right at all. Ed Wade did bring in a lot of guys, and though he mostly made mistakes, I'm not sure every single thing he did was entirely bad. I mean, Valverde could be a decent closer again this year. Bourn might turn out to be better than I think he is. The Oscar Villareal trade might work out, and one of his random free agent signings might do something halfway decent. At least he tried to do some stuff, even if it was pretty much all wrong. Which was not the case with the Marlins or the Giants.

Nick,

I don't know if they're gonna be that bad, man. I agree with your assessment of the farm system and such, but a lineup with Tejada, Berkman, Lee, and Pence is pretty sweet. The rotation is pretty poor, but I guess they're hoping Backe is healthy - he's always had good stuff, you know? If they can post any 2 formidable starters behind Oswalt, then they could win a few games...but that is a huge IF.

Nick, I'm surprised that you gave the Astros a D! After your thorough ripping, I was expecting another F. Was it because Wade "has tried his very best within the limits of his understanding"? Does he get a D for effort?
