Lyndsay, I may be completely out of line here, but my feeling overall about Dontrelle has been that the depression was a cover. The Tigers needed a reason to put him on the DL, so that's what they came up with. With a guy whose motion is as unorthodox like Willis, so many things can go wrong. Once something changes in his delivery, I'm sure it's much more difficult to fix because there are so many components to it. So I'm thinking that this is why he's no longer effective. Either by accident or by wrong instruction or change in body, Willis can no longer duplicate his delivery consistently.

Of course, I could be very, very wrong.

the only reason that Dontrelle Willis did not make this list is because you know you can see him getting the news and hitting himself in the head with a bat repeatedly while saying "stupid, stupid, stupid!" his pitching is scary enough on its own (I can't wrap my head around all the herky-jerkyness) without the added "mental" factor. I watched this guy pitch and thought, yeah something's not quite right there, and I'm not sure I'd want to hang around the dugout with him.

HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST CUTTING KEVIN MILLAR!

what he lacks in output he more than makes up for in hijinx and hilarity. you just can't cut a guy who calls Jim Rice "Big Pimp" on the air - you just can't!

Shane, I obviously gave Willis thorough consideration. But no matter what, the Tigers are stuck paying the guy because his contract is guaranteed. That's not the case with Mags. They can walk away right now. But like the post says, if they wait even several more weeks, then the option for 2010 becomes guaranteed (and also contributes to guaranteeing his 2011 option as well). They have a choice with Magglio. The guy isn't a bad player. But he's not going to produce enough to warrant his paycheck.
