Bad night for Moneyballers, as Tony Siegle, senior advisor of Giants told me, “We’ve shown Moneyball is a bunch of garbage” – Kevin Kernan via Twitter last night following San Francisco’s World Series Win

So let me get this straight:

1. Giants win the World Series.
2. ?
3. Moneyball is therefore crap.

The only ones nodding to this are the Underpants Gnomes.

  1. Nick Kapur says:

What makes this so ridiculous is that insofar as the main take-home message of Moneyball was that walks and on-base percentage really matter, the Rangers are one of the least Moneyball-ish teams around. None of those guys takes a walk very often.

    • Paul Moro says:

I really am continually amazed at how few people even have the most basic grasp of what that book was about. And I don’t know anyone who considers him/herself to be a “Moneyballer”.

  2. 1. Jeff Francoeur’s team loses the World Series.
    2. Moneyball was right.
    3. Seriously.
