One Boy’s Dream Come True. Sort of.

Many young boys and girls dream of one day stepping foot onto a real big league field. Well for one lucky lad, that dream became a reality prior to last night’s game between the Phillies and Mets.

Although I’m pretty sure that in his dream, he did not crumple to the ground and cry in sheer pain. Or maybe he’s a masochist and this is exactly how he had envisioned it. I don’t know the kid.

And yes, he was apparently OK. Just humiliated for the rest of eternity.

P.S. I had initially filed this post under “Quick Laughs” without thinking. I am a worse human being than I originally thought.

But he got to be held up by Big Pelf. That should ease the pain.

A 13-year old boy (guessing) crumpling in tears into the waiting arms of Big Pelf.

I fail to see the upside here. This is just not the way you want to meet a big leaguer. And I think his classmates would concur.

The boys was on a team trip with his 10u All-Star team from NJ. He’s ok now.

That kid isn\’t the only one leaning on Pelf these days. Kid is a true fan: after he hit the ground his first instinct wasn\’t self-preservation, it was to go after the ball. Classic

ok so now that we have established that the kid wasn’t paralyzed from landing on his neck, yes it’s ok to laugh.

and I like how Pelf waited a minute, then just kinda strolled over, half-interested, like he sees that kind of thing all the time.

the upside of this of course is that if the kid waits 10 years, it’ll be a great story for college parties.
