Na na, na na na na, hey hey hey
The Phillies announced their first round of cuts yesterday. The biggest name to get send packing was Chris Roberson, who won the Paul Owens Award as the organization’s top position player in 2005, but can’t stop making what the organization has labeled “boneheaded plays”.

Roberson, who spent some time with the big league club last season, playing mostly as a defensive replacement, was pretty pissed. From the Philadelphia Daily News:
At the suggestion of assistant general manager Mike Arbuckle, Roberson left the facility. The Phillies expect him to report to minor league camp today, though he can take 72 hours to show up.
“I’d be surprised if he takes 3 days,” Arbuckle said.
He left yesterday with a glazed expression – perhaps angry, clearly disappointed, certainly reluctant to discuss matters – as he rode a golf cart laden with his bats and equipment to his car in the players’ lot.
It’s understandable that Roberson is upset. He only got 10 at bats this spring training. That’s hardly enough to make an impression.
At least the Phillies had the good sense to handle Roberson’s situation with a little delicacy.
In an unfortunate coincidence, immediately after the cuts were made, the rest of the team warmed up to “Na, Na, Hey, Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)” playing over the ballpark loudspeaker system.
Oh man. Classy.
