The ’stache owes Wisconsin cash

The AP is reporting that Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers owes Wisconsin more than $1.4 million in income taxes and is the seventh biggest tax delinquent in the state. From the AP:

The state Department of Revenue lists Roland G. Fingers as owing $1,433,609. Fingers’ listed address is in Las Vegas, and the birth date in public records there matches the baseball player.

A few thoughts on Fingers’ tax woes. First, he lives in Vegas. There’s only one reason a guy moves to Vegas: he likes to gamble. So I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that Fingers’ unpaid taxes aren’t the biggest of his problems (think unpaid gambling debts). Clearly, Fingers likes to gamble and isn’t very good at it. After all, that awful mustache could only be explained as the result of a lost bet. But $1.4 million? That’s a lot of unpaid dough for a guy who played before the era of grossly inflated salaries. He must have forgotten to mail in more than a few W2 forms.
