Why can’t us?

You may have already read about this on The 700 Level or Deadspin, but just in case I’m going to write about it here, as part of my commitment to writing about anything and everything Phillies over the next two weeks.

It all started with a phone call to a radio show.

On the XM RadioBaseball This Morning: Playoff Edition today, a caller from Delaware chimed in to share his joy for the Fightins. He may have just created the next great new catch phrase, saying, “Boston did it. The White Sox did it. Why can’t us? Why can’t us.” 2008 Philadelphia Phillies: WHY CAN’T US!

Deadspin editor A.J. Daulerio responded to this post by urging somebody — anybody — to create a line of “Why can’t us?” t-shirts, and The 700 Level’s Enrico Campitelli rose to the challenge.

This is what I love about the Internet. One guy from Delaware with a slippery grasp of the English language calls a radio show and by the end of the day a team’s fan base has a new slogan and a new t-shirt line.
